If you are using extra equipment like screwdrivers or mallets, make sure they are clean and free from lint, dirt and adhesives and the like.

3.      Don’t neglect checking up the railings of your pickup truck. You may have an unbolted area or a defective railing that may hinder the installation greatly. Make sure the tailgate is secure and fastened and that the railings where the tonneau will rest is stable and ready for installation.

Installing your tonneau greatly depends on what kind of style you bought. If you opted for a hard tonneau cover, you may have the retractable, fiberglass or the tri-fold and many more. These ones are a bit more complex as it has a different setup system and are pretty hard to carry because of its very solid state.

Comparatively, a soft tonneau with its roll-up or snap tonneau is a bit tedious if only for its hinges, but when setting up the vinyl, it’s far easier to handle.
